Bai Tanki

Bai Tanki

The Daughter of the oldest brother
of twelve was a hardworking Girl,
a Virgin as pretty as
running water, and had
never seen the face
of any man
save only
father
Hers.

When the village children went to search
the jungle for wood, She went, too,
for charcoal and to Her doom.
The boys or men did not
like Her resistance
to capture or
to their ill
wishes,
rape.

They took Her by force and threw Her down
to the ground but lo! and behold:
as each approached a disease
struck him impotent, foul,
itching, sore, curling
at the tip of
his weapon,
like a
worm.

Despite Her magical protection,
one finally violated
Her, and Her body began
to dissolve into blood,
flowing in a stream
filled with ev'ry
disease, to
fill the
world.
